Improved capital structure and increased allocation to Agency RMBS could enhance net margins and boost future revenue and earnings.

High Yield Keeps Invesco Mortgage Capital Attractive

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital (IVR) remains a Buy due to its attractive yield, despite a slower Fed rate cut schedule. Q3 2024 saw a slight book value increase and stable dividends, supported by favorable rate cuts which reduce interest expense. Future outlook suggests slower book value growth due to higher Treasury Yields and a slower pace of rate cuts, impacting portfolio valuations. IVR therefore remains a better income investment than vehicle for capital gains. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage Capital: Probably Not Worth The Risk

Summary I believe Invesco Mortgage Capital Inc. faces significant risks from rising prepayment rates and spread risk, which could devalue its MBS portfolio and impact returns. Lower liquidity at the liability level can occur if U.S. economic variables don't improve. Moreover, I anticipate higher credit risk in 2025, which might add to funding uncertainty and refinancing. Regression analysis illustrates the mREIT's potential in a stable market environment. However, I don't think a stable market outlook is warranted. Given these headwinds, I remain cautious of Invesco Mortgage Capital despite its attractive dividend yield. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

18% Yield Might Even Grow: Invesco Mortgage Capital

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital (IVR) primarily invests in Agency RMBS and employs leverage to enhance yields, making it sensitive to interest rate fluctuations. IVR's dividend history shows significant cuts due to margin calls and liquidity issues, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite recent GAAP losses, IVR's earnings available for distribution suggest a potential future dividend increase as unrealized losses diminish. The main risk for IVR remains margin calls, which can lead to magnified losses in a leveraged portfolio during unexpected market disruptions. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage's Performance For Q1 2024

Summary This earnings assessment article reviews IVR’s BV and core earnings/EAD performance during Q1 2024 and compares results to my expectations. Earnings remain a key driver of stock performance. IVR’s BV modestly outperformed my/our expectations (near top end of range; minor increase) while its core earnings/EAD was a modest-notable underperformance (modest decrease). IVR’s minor quarterly BV increase basically matched the company’s agency mREIT sub-sector peers, but its quarterly core earnings/EAD decline was more severe. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage Capital: An Interesting Play In The mREIT Sector That Yields 17.5%

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital is a small mortgage Real Estate Investment Trust that primarily invests in residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities. The trust has been negatively impacted by the current market environment, with higher short-term rates and lower asset yields leading to lower business margins. However, there are expectations for the Federal Reserve to start cutting the Federal Funds target rate in the second half of 2024, which could be a positive tailwind for agency MBS and the trust's income. Invesco Mortgage Capital: Buy This 18% Yielding REIT While It's Still On Sale

Summary The real estate market expected to rebound from 2023 levels due to stable and potentially lower interest rates. Many REITs have announced dividend increases in Q1, indicating a rebound in the sector. Invesco Mortgage Capital offers a high yield of 18+% and may be a good value investment before the market rebounds. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage Capital To Benefit From Fed Shift

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital has faced challenges in the mortgage-backed securities market, but with the Fed expected to cut rates, the firm's prospects are improving. IVR primarily invests in agency MBS with low credit risk but faces risks from interest rates, prepayments, and spreads. The company has adjusted its portfolio and leverage and is expected to benefit from a shift to falling rates and improved spreads in the mortgage REIT space. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage Capital: Strong Bearish Trend Shows No Sign Of A Reversal

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital shares have been on a downward trend, losing about 50% and trading at a new 52-week low. The company's low net interest and declining book value make it an unfavorable investment choice. IVR's dividend history is characterized by declining dividends and a poor payout ratio, making it an unsustainable investment. Given the strong bearish trajectory as shown by my technical analysis, I rate the stock a sell. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Invesco Mortgage Capital: Good For Trading, But Horrific Investment

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital Inc. stock has consistently declined and does not work as an investment. The company has cut its dividend multiple times and is facing challenges in the volatile interest rate environment. Book value has fallen and the stock is currently near fair value, but it may get cheaper and should be avoided. As an investment this is not working, but traders can do well. Invesco Mortgage Capital Simply Doesn't Work

Summary Invesco Mortgage Capital, an mREIT with a 14% yield, has seen its stock drop 94% since its inception in 2009, making it a yield trap for investors. Government-backed mortgages aren't immune to drops in value and being overleveraged in them doesn't help either. Even if you ignore the poor stock performance, dividends have also been shrinking at a rapid rate, now paying a fraction of what it was paying a few years ago. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha
