For me, the story behind this company is the following. I read Alex Carpe's book, The Philosopher in the Valley, and I loved how structured and driven he was. I can feel his authenticity. I loved how he had a standard and lived up to it. America First. Recently, I also listened to a podcast with the CTO (WOW). I loved driven men. I love Peter Thiel and know he owns a 5% of the company. In life, we must be able to discern the wise from the crazy. I owned businesses in Trinidad, so I know what it takes to scale, run, and deal with culture, employees, and sales. It is very hard to stay true to your course while facing setback after setback. Now that I am invested in American equities, I can place value on what is being created. Many times, my business's value dropped, but I never sold. The stock market affords us the opportunity to invest in the best companies run by the best CEOs who have skin in the game, and so my money is riding along theirs. The bad thing about the stock market is that, as easy as it is to enter, it is also easy to exit. No businessman can get in and out of a business so fast, and it is staying in a business that makes you make huge returns once you choose a great business with great management. Alex Karp has skin in the game, and more importantly, he speaks with pride of ownership, so he has tied his identity to his success in growing and creating. A normal CEO can enter and exit; he isn't built like this, so I bet on this. Peter Thiel, from all my listening, is a wise man. We must be humble enough to know when someone is wiser and a broader thinker than we are. Money is a correlation of knowledge, so I want to learn more. Plantare is a great company with 18% ROIC, 36% margin, and zero debt. I have companies with tons of debt, and I still survived, so I have no doubt a company with zero debt can figure things out.
